Happy Birthday, HenKon
Posted by gauloises1 on June 20, 2009
Just taking a moment to wish happy birthday to Henri Kontinen, one half of YFB’s mascot slash pairing, Hengor …
Sadly Henri won’t be celebrating with just-good-friend Grigor Dmitrov, as he’s playing a Challenger in Norway.

We love you, HenKon. Wishing you some good results soon.

He takes pictures with some guy and a large fish in a super market. Henri totally seems like my type of guy.
Is that butter in the background?
Grocery shopping would be so much more fun with him.

I’m sorry, I just can’t stop myself:
There’s something fishy going on in that pic.
And where are blackshirt’s hands?!

Oh Lord, this post has almost completely cheered me up after the most craptastical day.
It’s amazing – in less than one year out of the juniors, Henkka has already gifted us with some all-time great tennistical photos (buggy, fish, er, everything with Henkon in it); now I just wish his results would follow suit!
(oh, and the tourney in Norway is a Futures – he’s made the QF’s but I think it’s been raining a lot there and the sched is behind) (sorry to be an anal-retentive bastard, but that’s how I roll)

p.s. earlier this evening (before I even saw this post!), I was actually reading some fairly hilarious things on my Kindle about the Finnish language, which – in honor of Henri’s birthday, I will share here:
“Finnish is a Finno-Ugric language and hence completely unrelated to almost every language between Ireland and India.”
“There is no tone whatsoever in Finnish speech, just long strings of monotone sounds. Foreigners then to think this makes the language sound rather depressing; Finns, on the other hand, wonder why everybody else’s languages sound so sing-songy.”
“That being said, however, Finns are often quite excited to hear a foreigner attempt to speak their language and tend to be very forgiving of pronunciation blunders”
Hei hei!

He definitely passes the supermarket test. It’s an important test. If you can have a great time with a guy in a supermarket, he’s a potential keeper.
