Domo Arigato, Mr. del Potro
Posted by gauloises1 on October 5, 2009
I had to, right? You understand that I had to. Anyway, Daniel was kind enough to link to this video of JMDP practicing with Pico in preparation for the Rakuten Japan Open.
I refuse to draw any conclusions about performance from a practice video. But can you believe how many people are there to watch?! The under-the-radar days are definitely over.
Anyway, just because we’re a multimedia service and JMDP is, well, hot, have some photos.
Sunshine through my window.

LORDY LORDY LORDY
so, yeah. My mini-orgasms at these photos have proven I can deal with the new teeth.

He looks good, and the new teeth are there, a new hair cut also? He is now famous and the biggest star in this tournament. And Monaco is benefiting from that attention too.
Someone at tennis.com was saying that it was impossible for him to get something final on his teeth in a few days like the ones he had after returning from the US. Well time will tell if this is the final version of his teeth or if he gets something better done instead in a few months when he returns from Europe.

I wonder if that is the practice tshirt or the new shirt that Nike game him for his official matches.

i love how he’s adored wherever he goes…
that said, i’m having a Debbie Downer moment: they shoulda done his bottom teeth as well, cos now they don’t match his sparkling though unnatch top ones. le sigh. if you’re gonna mess things up, might as well do a bang up job. i miss the old smile.

I find it comforting that his bottom teeth are still the familiar crooked ones.
That said, I only worried that his new teeth would somehow introduce a jarring note into our otherwise harmonious oblivious player-scarily obsessed fan relationship.
Judging by how happy I was to see these photos and that video, they haven’t. So I’m cool with it.

The dots on his shirt make it look like it is being attacked by gnats.

Lovely photos, he’s all nice and furry.
Love the press conference ones and the last one especially. Yum. Don’t mind the new teeth nor that he still has his old ones, so many people at the practice session, blimey!

oh how i miss the “under the radar” days i almost almost wish andy “mugfairy” murray would win one so that all the bandwagoneers will jump on him instead…but then i remember how much i dislike him and how i enjoy not seeing him win GS =D

LOL, Andy Murray is like the unloved stepchild that everyone dislikes….Not really a fan but the stuff I’ve seen on boards and blogs has made me go yikes.

Gauloises did you know that there is another British lady who admires Delpo?
I read at the times online the following from this year´s US Open girl´s champion Heather Watson.
Who do you look up to in tennis?
My favourite players are Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Juan Martín del Potro — I always really liked him. I love James Blake as well and I really admire Rafael Nadal for his mental strength and the way he is on court. And Roger Federer just because of what he’s done.
What about “Our Andy”? How do you get on with him?
I’ve never even spoken to Andy Murray. I have sat a few seats down from him in the players’ lounge and I see him at the National Tennis Centre [in Roehampton, southwest London], although I haven’t plucked up the courage to talk to him yet.
