What Happened So Far
Posted by gauloises1 on January 12, 2010
So, I’ve been a little bit out of the loop since Sunday. What’s been going on?
Auckland
David Nalbandian pulled out with an abominal injury that may keep him out of the Australian Open.
Leaving many of us feeling like this.
But hey, Pico’s back! As is Nose Job.
Possibly having had another nose job.
Hobart
Alicia Molik keeps on keeping on, beating Sania Mirza; Carla Suarez Navarro next.
Zheng Jie beat Peng Shuai.
Jelena Dokic beat a Tim.
And Alize Cornet continues determinedly divesting herself of what remains of her points.
Sydney
JJ’s back!
She lost.
So did Caro.
So did Svetlana.
But hey, Dominika Cibulkova’s back!
So is Victoria Azarenka. In the really … Victoria Azarenka sense. She’s struggled through two three-setters so far, one against Sabine Lisicki and one against, um, Kimiko Date Krumm.
Hey, remember her? She won a match! In straight sets, too.
So did she. It may or may not be on.
The men have been boring. Have a photo of Baggy anyway.
This concludes your round-up.

and marin defended his title!
(not a critique of your editorial choices, just felt it had to be said on NB)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
My god, I am really losing it!

I thought it was confirmed that Nalby was out of the AO? I could have misread that. In fact, I probably misread that, I suck at reading sometimes. I hope he’s not, for all of our sakes (but especially for Nancy!)
Dinara looks scary fit. In fact, so does Serena. I’m pretty sure nothing on the WTA side would make me happier than them both making it back to the final and Dina killing Serena. Though that will never, ever, happen, but it would be AWESOME.
That’s a really cute picture of a puppy, and I never say things like that, so well done.

That post was blog perfection. As if re-asserting her place in the WTA, Safina got her win the hard way. I didn’t realize how much I’d missed her until I was following the scores, watching her come back from down 2-5.

Ahem. What about a certain face of the Horse-ular variety who has most definitely NOT been boring in Sydney!?

With Dina losing to Lena 2 and 3, safe to say the only part of Dina that’s back is the crazy.
