Well, This Doesn’t Look Good

Posted by gauloises1 on January 18, 2010

I’m not talking about the score (64 64 36 62), although dropping a set to the world no. 90 doesn’t exactly cause one to brim with confidence. Still, I managed to watch a little of it this morning and I thought the curly-haired tot that is Russell was playing well enough to make it sort of OK.

To quote IRTTY – back to the Shire with you, Michael Russell.

I’m not even really talking about the wrist, although that doesn’t look good either, what with the taping and a downcast Delpo saying afterwards that he wasn’t feeling 100% and the wrist started to hurt after two hours.

No, I’m mainly talking about the outfit.

Do not want.

I dunno, he looks kind of smouldery in that last shot, including lime green shirt. And I’m not usually madly into Del Po.

    • gauloises1 said

You see lime green? I see ming yellow …

At the risk of sounding totally pathetic (too late!), he always looks good to me, but I hate that colour and I’m not mad about the design, either.

I don’t think it’s that bad. Though if it didn’t have his face attached I think I might change my mind….

Yellow shirts make the ball harder to see for the opponent apparently. Serena started it last year. Anyway I didn’t notice after a while because his beautifulness shone thru. (and I say that without gagging…it must be love)

Yeah not a great start for our man but was nice when he got all angry at the chair umpire. Nice one on the hobbit reference.

ok let me just say…i was there i saw the shirt in person….and it is gooooooood! damn good speacially with our boys tan his rocking of late, it looks a bit sketchy in these photos but thats not really the colour it really is…does that even make sense?

either way its Juan…and as they say “is Juan, is Hot”…..well actually they say “is don, is good” but thats a fine detail we can work out later.

this russell bloke kind of became annoying when he didnt just up and die, like i expected him to do, and the chair umpire kept screwing juan over but apart from that our boy looked in fine form really, and there didnt seem to be any “wrist injuries” that my eyes could see, granted my eyes barely strayed any further then his ass…but on the odd occasion he would put his arms near his waist i saw his wrist and it looked fine 😉

Anyone ever get a colonoscopy? (Yeah, I know, gross.) You know the pills and/or liquid they give you to make you empty your insides? It ends up looking rather radioactive … which is what his shirt color reminds me of.

    Charming, I know. 😀

From henceforward, it shall be known as the Enema Shirt.

BRING BACK THE GROPING SHIRT. It was the best thing he ever wore. Closely followed by the RG bee/zebra shirt.

      • AmyLu said

My grandmother referred to that color as “menopause green” because apparently she felt like in the 50s? 60s? 70s? (I honestly have no idea what decade even though this story has been told to me a thousand times by various family members) middle-aged women flocked to that color. So I can’t look at that shade of green/yellow without thinking “menopause green,” and I think adding an enema to the visual department for the color works quite nicely.

That shirt is bleh, I’m sorry but nuclear yellow no me like. Was 😦 hearing that his wrist was hurting after the match. Poo. That last pic of him is just yum, smouldering indeed. I love him in the Bumblebee outfit, bring back Bumblebee Juan.

Until I read the comments, I didn’t even realize he was wearing a shirt. He looks so hot and smouldering in that second picture. Where’s my tower climbing equipment?!

  8. Mango said

If you don’t want him, I’ll take him.

I kind of love these crazy outfits that Nike gives him. He’s like a highlighter or a tall glass of Mountain Dew (do you have Mountain Dew in the U.K.?).

  9. Mom2KidsMortgage said

Are you hoping that if you complain about his shirt enough, he will take it off? Tsk, tsk.

  10. Aleksa said

    BumbleBee. I want.
Keep on winning. Keep on being adorable you. Unadultared sex that is.

I much prefer his RG bumblebee outfit, though I’ve long since come to the conclusion that he will look quite lovely in anything he wears. I’d rather this than Rafa’s orange/pink combo.
    What is his groping shirt?

    • Saoirse said

Thanks for bringing this up Sophie… I also can’t remember the groping shirt for the life of me but was too ashamed to admit it… can we have some photo evidence Miss G?

Not a fan of the acidic bile-coloured shirt but the man would look fanfuckingtastic in a tie dye poncho and one of those Alpaca hat with tassels so…

      • gauloises1 said

        This was the groping shirt.

So called because it looked like a finger-painted illustration from ‘Groping For Dummies’. “First, put your hands here. Now move them downwards …”

        • Saoirse said

Mmmmmmmm yes, I remember the groping shirt… This finger licking good moment comes to you courtesy of Gauloises. *fondles (shirtless) imaginary Elf*

There was an entire summer and/or fall of groping goodness back in 2008 if memory serves… Sigh. It was a good year. Perusing over Nike’s spring line, I am afraid we Elfans will have to endure some serious retina-burning moments over the next few months. Feels like Nike is having an unfortunate Technotronic moment.

      • sophienz said

Ha – that is something I would pay to see

        • sophienz said

The tie dyed poncho and tasseled alpaca hat I mean.

          • Saoirse said

He’d look adorable! Think about it! Especially the hat part… Paging IRTTY.

I was feeling nostalgic and having a ‘Zorrino the Peruvian Indian’ moment… Ever read ‘Tintin Prisoners of the Sun’ as a kid? I have. That’s how I come up with shit like that – kinky sexual fantasies involving a sombrero and a smouldering giant tennis player…

What a sad, sad commentary on our times. I thought he attended all sorts of fashion shows with Anna Wintour? Perhaps Anna suggested the shirt would look fabulous? Or perhaps he’s color blind, and thought he had on a gray and . . . gray-striped shirt? Hysterical.

  15. lola said

OK, I thought it was just me ,but after viewing the match, and the pics- Juan is taller than 6’6. I stood next to him in a very brief moment wearing heels, and didnt quite make it past his shoulder/armpit. I’m about 5’8 in heels. I looked up Russell and he’s about 5’8..

  16. Maria1 said

As Cilic said sometimes the book/stats aren’t always correct. Wonder if anyone’s going to change it from 6’6 to 6’7. As you had the fortune to stand next to him what else can you recall if you don’t mind me asking?

  17. lola said

    Hi maria 1,

of course you can ask- just don’t ask why i was wearing heels at a tennis match..LOL

I saw him play doubles with gonzo in Paris, on a very small court. He was just an arms length away! He is gorgeous in person! and BIG. When he was leaving the court , people started rushing to get his autograph.he seemed a little embarrassed… so, I didn’t say anything, take pics, etc. I couldn’t say anything! I couldn’t even look up… my head was barely to his shoulder! LOL
