Madrid Tuesday: Er, What?

Posted by gauloises1 on May 12, 2010

A very brief rundown of the notable losses in Madrid yesterday:

36 64 64 to Patty Schnyder.

62 63 to Alona Bondarenko.

61 36 75 to Alexandra Dulgheru.

76(3) 63 to Andrea Petkovic.

67(3) 63 75 to Daniel Munoz-De La Nava. Yeah. You heard me.

The only other thing that could have made this day more of a comedy of unforced errors? A double retirement in the final and most anticipated match of the day between Tomas Berdych and David Nalbandian. Which, of course, happened. Mardy Fish and Michael Russell, anyone? I don’t even care enough to check who won.

A photo of Andrea Petkovic, because I like her.

Damnit Sam! I was just starting to sort of like you. AND THEN THIS HAPPENS.

Also, Mardy Fish and Whatshisface Russell may be the WORST SUBSTITUTION IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD for Nalbatron and Berd. Were they just trying to make us even more depressed with that?

I haven’t had time to pay much attention to Madrid, other than checking the results, and OMG. What is going on at this tournament?

I don’t even know what to say with Sam. That was ridiculous. I mean, dude, you did win a tournament last week, right?

    *sigh*
