Hey, so. I wrote a thing about Heather Watson for tennis.com and another thing about Alisa Kleybanova which should be up soon. But because I love you, here’s some more pictures courtesy (and copyright) of the fantastic Pedro Mendes of the goings-on in Estoril.

Heather Watson, a.k.a. Our Hev, who had a really tough match today against Tamira Paszek and missed qualifying into the main draw. She was understandably gutted, but we won’t forget her.

Gilles and Yves Allergo playing doubles on Centralito. They lost to Pablo Andujar and Daniel Gimeno-Traver, but the most entertaining part of the match was waiting for Gilles to explode in frustration. Which he duly did, yelling “Ah, this fucking bitch of a line!” during the second set. Comedy gold.

I particularly like the one of Robin stretching. What is he even doing!? That looks ultra awkward.
Oh, and is Delpo playing doubles at all?

Nice pics. And great column on tennis.com today on Bigfoot & Terminator. It took me a while to remember the alias & connect it with previous columns – the tip-off was the writing. So I came here.
I have a really stupid Terminator-related question: How big vs. skinny does Delpo look in person? Another blogger whose site I frequent (Craig Hickman) has seen Delpo in the flesh & says the impression is of a “slender” fellow. Whereas watching on TV, I can’t believe Delpo is still anywhere near his ATP listed weight of 182 pounds (I weighed that in college as a very skinny freshman, six inches shorter). I think he’s getting up to NBA small forward weight, which would put him anywhere from 190 to 200 1bs – as a comparison Reggie Miller was 6’7″ and 195 pounds. Plus, compared to CIlic, who is supposedly about the same height, Delpo looks like a beast. Just curious as to what you think …

I’m terrible at estimating weight, but I can tell you having seen him a lot up close the last few days, JMDP is not what I would call slender. He is, no sexual connotations intended, simply big all over. Compared to Cilic, say, or Milos Raonic, he is simply built on bigger lines – a big hulk of a man (with skinny legs). However, I don’t know the NFL but he’s nowhere near the kind of build that would get him on the rugby field.
So … I’m really not answering your question. Let’s say he’s not at all gangly but solidly-built without being stocky … this isn’t helping, is it?

No, thanks, it’s very helpful. It’s very close to what I imagined of Delpo – you can see even on a teeny tiny TV that he’s got big shoulders & big hips. As for the skinny legs, this seems fairly common for big guys – i.e. Tsonga has that heavy-built torso but then he skinnies down below the waist.
Also by NBA I mean basketball fellers, not football fellers. In basketball you can be quite skinny but you still must be strong because of the level of pushing, shoving, arm-hacking, etc. Reggie Miller was the prototype skinny-yet-strong small forward.
