Image is Everything: Get Your Brazilians Here

Posted by gauloises1 on May 10, 2009

So this weekend there was some almost entirely ignored Group I Davis Cup action going on. And because I’m a fundamentally good person, I thought I would bring you some pictorial goodness from these neglected ties.

Only the ones featuring hot South Americans, obviously. What am I, Mother Teresa?

Ecuador 3 Peru 0

This one was all about the Lapenttis, who won singles, then doubles …

… then hugged …

… jumped over things …

… and had champagne. Good show, Nico.

Colombia 0 Brazil 3

nose job

My favourite Nose Job faced Colombia’s Alejandro Falla.

nose job2

He kicked ass.

Then some other dude won a match, who’s not interesting. And then …

sa melo

Sa and Melo laid the smackdown in the doubles.

melo sa

Caption fail.

sa melo2

They won. And hugged.

And hugged some other people.

Who then hugged some other people.

Don’t you just love Davis Cup?

In some of the Brazilian hugs it looks like they’re smelling each other. I probably would too.

Gauloises, even mother Teresa can’t be expected to do ugly.

i totes forgot about this zonal group action. for shame, Bizzer.

but for shame ITF too. for shame, this schedule sucks.
all the time i wondered why nose job didn´t play in estoril (smallish tournament on clay in a portuguese speaking country? looked like a sure thing to me he´d be there) and isn´t in madrid either… DC! but of course!
why isn´t it done at the same time as WG play? am totes with rusty on this, incredibly unfair.

thanks gaul for the pics and info and just for everything.

I saw the “other dude who won a match” – Franco Ferreiro – early this year in the Sao Paulo challenger. It was a really horrible doubles match (he and partner Saretta deserved to lose and lost). Ferreiro may not be a great player, but he has one of the prettiest pair of green eyes in tennis. Hope the links work:

  4. I’ve recently started a web site, the info you provide on this web site has helped me greatly. Thank you for all of your time & work. “‘Tis
