ATP Madrid Results: Thursday

Posted by gauloises1 on May 15, 2009

Penile action was a tad disappointing today, as both Philipp “punkt de” Kohlschreiber and Nikolay Davydenko were forced to withdraw with suspiciously identical injuries, giving Rafa and Roddick a walkover into the quarter-finals. Men, eh? All talk and no performance.

Murray survived what looked like a tough first set against Tommy Robredo before winning the second easily, and Nole subdued Seppi for what feels like the millionth time in recent weeks, 4 and 4. In disappointing news, Simon was taken out by Ivan Ljubicic, he of the preternaturally enormous cranium, and Pico’s run ended at the hands of official YFB Mascot of Hatred and Despair, Fernando Verdasco. Fortunately, he’s still pretty.

And speaking of hot Tandilese …

Elf battled his way to his second three-set win over Stanislas Wawrinka in as many tournaments. To my eternal shame, I’ve not seen him play at all this week, but from what I gather his form was patchy today, just like in Rome. I don’t think he’s really found his rhythm on clay at all this season and I don’t expect him to trouble Nole overly, but still. A Masters series quarterfinal is not to be sniffed at.

However, all is not well in the Elven Kingdom. The inexplicable and disturbing partnership with Mardy Fish continues to … continue. And they’re WINNING. They’re in the SEMIFINALS.

This should not be happening.

This should NOT be happening.

There is no god.

EDIT: C Note has more pictures. And they HURT.

LOL at the Elfish team, that really has to be the wacky-est dubs team ever. I don’t know who is the genius behind this partnership but I’m totally completely 100 per cent amused.

Sad for Argie’s hottest production but anyway, he would’ve got his sexy behind handed to him by Prince Knees in the next round. Still not happy happy though that he lost to hot pants. of all people. Fuck.

I did not see Elf’s play today as it was not shown here- but I thought he looked good in his match against Tomas. I still think he will lose against Andy but he maybe has had some improvement since Rome. I just hope he fights better than he did against Nole in Rome.

I was not happy with the way Pico lost. Served for the set and then *poof* totally lost his way. Why must he be so sexy and so headcasey.
