RG Day Seven: Novak Djokovic Loses in Third Round

Posted by gauloises1 on May 30, 2009

So I was all set to do some fairly cheerful results blogging.

And then this happened.

pehk

Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 64 64 64.

I literally can’t process this, and I don’t think I’m the only one. The crowd were oddly quiet, even the commentators when Kohlschreiber was serving for the match were talking about what Nole would need to do to get back into the match. I kept expecting Nole to get his shit together and start to really play. I feel like I’m still expecting him to.

Don’t get me wrong, Kohlschreiber played remarkably well, and all credit to him. But Nole just wasn’t there. He didn’t even seem to really care that he was losing.

I’m totally gutted. Congratulations to PEHK though …

Well. This has put the cat among the pigeons, eh?

The Falcon has crashed landed. Sorry G but you know I just don’t got much love for Satan. Apparently he was tired because he had to play a whole set of tennis yesterday though…..yeh more schedulgate.

I just…I can’t even feel happy for Kohls. I’m just really really upset that Nole’s out already. I really believed he would come back.

Oh Nole. SIGH. At least Gael and Tsonga made it through today.

This was just such disappointing news. I really don’t understand why he played so much tennis before RG. It seemed like all the clay tournys were back to back to back to back with each other.

Boy needs to go home to MC and just relax. Take a few days and then get ready for the grass season.

Schedulegate can fuck off. If he WAS tired, it had everything to do with his schedule BEFORE RG.

I know you don’t care about Nole, but believe me, this sucks for me. JMDP or Tsonga in the semis, though … it could happen?

yes either of them is more than capable of being in the semis. And both are more than capable of taking out Fudderer playing the way he is.

While I agree that JMDP is capable of beating Fed, I think they’re both subliminally convinced that JMDP is Fed’s bitch, so … Until JMDP gets over that little mental hurdle, I’m giving it to Fed.

    I hear you.
