Eastbourne: JJ Loses in First Round

Posted by gauloises1 on June 16, 2009

Now this DOES worry me. Third seed Jelena Jankovic lost to Anna Chakvetadze today at Eastbourne, 76(5) 36 26.

After the match, JJ blamed a lack of energy and motivation. Yeah, because it’s not like you’ve had two weeks off after going out in the fourth round of the French or anything.

This is more worrying:

“I’ll play Wimbledon and then we’ll see. At least I can take a few weeks off then. I wish I could take a break now. I need to get to where I want to play tennis again.”

Don’t leave me, JJ!

It’s not that she lost to Chakvetadze; it’s the scoreline that bothers me. It doesn’t even look like the second and third sets were even close.

Still, it’s a great win for Chakvetadze. We’ll see if she can back it up against someone who isn’t slumping worse than her.

What – no love for your imaginary girlfriend, G?

Momo served like crap, looked like (not that I got to see anything but a Live Scores thingy) but still pulled it out. She took her customary walkabout in the second set, then came out strong in the 3rd and finished it off in style. As in, ace on a 2nd serve sorta style.

And much love to Vera for finally getting back on the court and putting up such a good fight. Welcome back!

Please god let there be livestreams for the rest of the week!

Seriously JJ?? You can’t get motivated for a Grand Slam? Or winning a million pounds…….right yep you need to take a break.
