Ordina Open: Safina Out, Sluiter Putting It About

Posted by gauloises1 on June 20, 2009

So in a repeat of last year’s final, Safina was knocked out of Den Bosch today by Tamarine Tanasugarn, 75 75. Seriously. What is it with Tammy and the Netherlands?

She’ll face Yanine Wickmayer who defeated Francesca Schiavone in three sets. I don’t know if she’s peaking too early or what, but Wickmayer could be dangerous at Wimbledon if she plays like I’ve seen her play this week and last.

She’s the Belgian Sharapova, you know.

On the penile side, Becker defeated Schuettler to set up a clash with Raemon Sluiter, the Dutch player who gives absolutely fantastic snappage:

Raemon, let’s do the bad thing.

    Yanina: pretty and concentrated.

    Raemon: giving birth on court.

I just saw that Sluiter is the lowest-ranked player ever to make it to an ATP World Tour final. I’m a sucker for a good underdog story, which means I can’t even quit B’Gosh yet, though it screwed me multiple times this week.

I’m such a tennis addict, even the worst-sounding final ever just reels me in. Jesus.

OMG, just noticed the last line! Russell Howard FTW!. Dude’s story is meh but at least he’ll get A LOT of money for his efforts. Dina oh Dina, at least you got closer to Tammy grass GOAT.
