Toronto: Azarenka, Safina, Wozniacki Out

Posted by gauloises1 on August 20, 2009

Somewhat of a top-seed cull going on in Toronto, isn’t there? Azarenka lost in three sets to Clijsters, Wozniacki was bounced in straight sets by Zheng Jie Jie Zheng, and Dinara Safina bafflingly lost to Aravane Rezai.

Of the three results, I’m by far the most surprised at Dinara. I hear she served something on the order of 17 double faults (I stopped counting Azarenka’s), and what I did catch of her performance was pretty much a disgrace. Zeljko Krajan actually left the court before the end of the match, according to my commentators, which is not cool. You should stick with your player no matter what or bloody well get out there and do better yourself. So sayeth I.

Good day for these ladies though.

not surprised Caro’s out…she’s kind of a case of the hype > than the talent.

Z is such an asswipe. Dude, stick with your player. No matter how bad it gets. I’ve never liked him and this just adds to the hate.

    Yay for Kimmy!

I didn’t see Dinara’s game. Is it safe to say that she gave away the match to Rezai because of Dfs?

Neil i watched some of her games and i totally share your opinion. but at TW a lot of posters think she’s the next big thing so…
i’m so stunned by vika’s loss. what is happening with that girl? i’m not on the “welcome back Kim” bandwagon so i’m not a happy camper right now. at least JJ is finally winning again. And i’m also really sad for dinara, not a fan but it’s really hard seeing on the court these days. She never looks like she’s enjoying herself.
