USO Day Ten: K-Bond on a Sticky Wicket

Posted by gauloises1 on September 10, 2009

Yanina Wickmayer is our first semifinalist from the bottom half of the draw, defeating Kateryna Bondarenko 75 64.

Not too much to say about this one. Wicky came out with a good aggressive game plan and stuck to it well, fighting back from a break deficit in the second set. Bondarenko, meanwhile – with her ludicrous tiny rat dog looking on – has played some good tennis this tournament, but she didn’t have it today, making far too many mistakes and that was that, really.

Tough day, because she’s a better player than she looked today. But huge props to Wicky, who handled the occasion beautifully and has earned her first semi-final. I’m delighted for her. She’ll face the winner of Oudin-Wozniacki (looks very much like Wozniacki right now).

Go get ’em, tiger.

Also, more girls should wear shorts. I’m a big fan. If I played tennis I would wear cute shorts.

Yeah, I really like the shorts look too.

Although I think the “Volvo” patch on her shoulder is funny … I kept on thinking it was a button.

I completely agree that more players should wear shorts. I’ve actually always thought shorts would look more flattering on Ivanovic than the cut of dress she normally wears. Myskina always used to wear shorts, right? I loved that look on her.

    + Juan

As a guy I want to say that shorts >>>>>> skirts when it comes to accentuate a girl’s atribute.
