OK, Stop It Now, Kuala Lumpur

Posted by gauloises1 on September 30, 2009

Seriously, pretty much every photo that comes out of the Proton Malaysian Open (or whatever) is just cracking me up. I mean, this is how they have chosen to sum up Kolya’s 63 76(4) win over Taylor Dent:

Is it me or does Kolya look like he’s just about to nail the photographer? (With the ball, is what I mean. Obviously.) Anyway, he won. And so did a number of other people, including Gasquet, Soderling, and Youzhny.

Taking his time to make it into the winner’s circle was Gael Monfils, who beat Istomin 76(3) 76(2) and told a harrowing tale of planes, trains and automobiles. He did not, however, address the minor issue of what he’s done to his hair.

la monfla monf2

Is it me, or does he instantly look about five years younger and not in a good way?

Bangkok can’t compete, anyway, it was boring today. Horseface and Nose Job lost. That is all the news of interest.

Let’s face it: the Proton Open is sooo much better than the Neutron Open. And don’t even get me STARTED on the Electron Open.

Hey Bambi! The daddy mac will make you jump, JUMP!!

So, can anyone explain to me why Monfils decided to drive to Geneva for a day (if that) before then flying to Paris to start his journey to Asia? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to go to Paris directly from Metz? *confused*

You’re attempting to explain the behaviour of Gael Monfils according to rational principles, AmyLu?

Damn it IRTTY! You totally beat me to it. I was seriously wondering what a subatomic particle was doing sponsoring a tennis tournament. Next, leptons and quarks are going to get in on the action. Maybe they already did in a parallel universe in which Gael Monfils wins more often and doesn’t fuck around.

Gael had this hair a few years ago and it looked fucking hot (in the one video I’ve seen.) I’m hoping once he takes that damn cap off, it’ll look just as goood.

Yes, I don’t really know what I was thinking, gauloises.

I just laughed so hard at the hair that I am now wide awake. That’s pretty powerful.

OMG the hair. Horrible, Gael! HORRIBLE. What was he thinking?

I absolutely loved the fro, I was so happy when he went back to that from the braids.

Good to see Youzhny doing the salute. I’ve missed that.
