Crook A-Rod Proves His Own Point

Posted by gauloises1 on October 13, 2009

So bit of a bugger for Andy Roddick today, as he was forced to retire at 3-4 in the first set against Stanislas Wawrinka after he damaged his knee during a seemingly routine change of direction.

It’s the second time he’s been forced to retire against Wawrinka. Who may have voodoo powers.

shanghai andy roddick press conference2

In his press conference, Roddick said he would be returning to the States immediately to get a diagnosis.

“I don’t really know what’s going on in there,” Roddick said. “I’m not a doctor. I can’t really self diagnose myself… I’m not going to have a lot of answers for you guys tonight, unfortunately.

“I just felt I pushed off, and then Michal came on court and did some tests and advised that it probably wasn’t worth the risk until we know more. [The pain was] enough to make me stop a tennis match, which is going to be pretty significant.  Beyond that, I don’t know; that’s not my profession.”

Hopefully he’ll be right in time for Paris, otherwise he’ll have a tough time qualifying for the WTFs. And honestly it feels like he really deserves to be there.

To say this was disappointing would be an understatement. He had a really good draw here and while he wasn’t playing lights out, I believe he would have beaten Stan. Just a complete bummer that we’ll never know.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Tennis Gods WHY?!?!?!?!?!?! Something about those Swiss players…..

Sorry, I’m not taking this very well.

What a crap year (or at least since Wimbledon) for Roddick. I feel so bad for him. Between Federer being fatigued and Murray injured those calls to reduce the season length seem pretty right on.

Real shame for Roddick, was watching the match, he was in the lead I thought he would win then I see him limping off. Mother and I were like crap, that must be serious pain and yes to reducing the season.
