Linz, Osaka: Cirstea Out, Wozniacki and Pennetta Through

Posted by gauloises1 on October 13, 2009

Sad news from Linz, where Sorana Cirstea lost 63 63 to qualifier Julia Goerges. Reportedly she was struggling with her serve, but that’s really not the point, because nobody should lose to Julia Goerges. The other seeds came through with no problems, including Safarova, Benesova and Pennetta, who rolled over Megan Shaughnessy 61 61.

Still chasing that Doha spot …

The seeds are doing well in Osaka too, with Wozniacki, Bartoli, Wozniak and Stosur all through to the second round. Oh, and Jill Craybas beat Kimiko Date-Krumm 64 in the third in the battle of the oldies.
