Pico, Nico Win; Troicki Ousted

Posted by gauloises1 on October 26, 2009

So this week’s action hasn’t really kicked off on the ATP side yet, but there were a few results of note. Pico put in a clean performance against an overmatched Josselin Ouanna in Lyon, who started brightly and faded quickly, and fifth seed Julien Benneteau did well to put away Alberto Martin, 76(1) 61. Third seed Viktor Troicki lost to Karol Beck (who I’m familiar with inasmuch as he isn’t the German Beck) 64 in the third in St Petersburg, and in Vienna, Daniel Brands was confirmed as Marin Cilic’s potential second round opponent. Nicolas Almagro survived a very tough challenge from Australian Peter Luczak to win the deciding set 61, and Frederico Gil beat wildcard Stefan Koubek in three.
