Murray Signs With Adidas

Posted by gauloises1 on November 4, 2009

It’s been rumoured for a while and, according to The Times, it’s finally happened; Andy Murray has signed a five-year, £10 million deal with Adidas. Yes, this …

… is set to become this …

In terms of insignia and media styling only, obviously. Unless the Adidas design people are really good.

Murray, who has won 13 titles on the ATP Tour, is delighted with the move. “I’m excited to be joining a massive global sports brand with a credible heritage in tennis,” he said. “Joining a list of stars who have worn the brand, that includes Muhammad Ali and David Beckham, is an honour. I’m in no doubt that this deal will help me both on and off the court.”

Murray’s set to debut his new togs at the Hopman Cup in January. I’m wondering what insignia they’ll give him, a la Novak Djokovic’s falcon. Anyway, it means the big four are now split evenly between Adidas and Nike.

It seems to be the season for player signings, incidentally; Sam Querrey has reportedly made a deal with K-Swiss.

A £10 million deal, yeah that will help you off the court alright. Not a Mandy fan but I am kind of sad to see him leave Fred Perry. Plus, I can’t picture him pulling off the funky coloured Barricades à la Novak. As for the insignia, I am voting for the moray eel.

i seriously hope they don’t try and make him wear fluoro shoes. *shudders*

Ooooh, me likey… The Mad Ferret, totally! He’s got the pointy teeth & spunky attitude to pull off such a dignified nickname! It just works. Good job Mina.

Boy doesn’t need no stinking insignia. It’s so… needy. Then there’s that old chestnut – “I am the Viper. I have come to Vipe your Vindows”.

Bet Nole wants to ditch his since Falcon the Balloon Boy hit the headlines.
