Bog Standard No Longer Good Enough, Say LTA

Posted by gauloises1 on December 21, 2009

Alex Bogdanovic has been removed from the elite list of LTA players who will receive the highest level of funding in 2010.

Good.

Flemski, Dan Evans, James Ward (of training-with-Rafa and once-taking-a-set-off-Marat-Safin fame), Bally, Katie O’Brien, Keo, Heather Watson and Laura Robson have all made the ‘Top Tims for 2010’ list. Naomi Broady hasn’t. Get over it, LTA, and give the girl a leg up.

rubbish move by the LTA. rubbish! boggo is a diamond in the rough.
how is he supposed to move to the next level, break his wimbles duck and become an integral part of britain´s tennis future without the highest level of funding?
crying shame that such a promising player gets destroyed just cause the big-wiggy fat cats of the LTA don´t know the meaning of patience, trust and potential.
    sick to my stomach!

Aw, this hurts me. Boggo’s better than he’s given credit for, I feel.

*pulls blanket over head for background*

    “LEAVE BOGGO ALONE!!!!”*

    /dated reference

*unfortunately, that’s just what the LTA is doing apparently. Is it too late to take back this comment?

Don’t you people understand that I WANT to leave Boggo alone?! I yearn for a life with no Boggo in it! But he keeps getting bloody wildcards into bloody Wimbledon and bloody failing epically in Davis bloody Cup and just generally getting in my face. My only method of defense is to mock him mercilessly, damnit!

Why isn’t there a ‘Leave Gauloises Alone, Boggo!’ campaign, eh?

  4. Dispicable…This is the LTA’s problem…..All these years funding Boggo……and now when he needs it most….about to finally make that break…and they withdraw it…for once-won-a-set-off-marat-safin Ward??!!!!………I suppose we’ll never get to truely experience THE BOGGO……..the shudbe GOAT…

Precisely so. I bet they wouldn’t have made this move if Rafa chose to have a hit with him instead! And I bet Boggo’s never thrown apple cores off his balcony at innocents abroad!

      *makes incredibly valid points*

Poor old Boggo. He’s one of those really nice chaps that gets promoted above his abilities because there’s no-one else, and is doomed to constantly and publicly fail. It’s enough to screw you up permanently.
On the other hand, Boggo is the tennis equivalent of those ‘permanent students’ back when student grants existed – you know, the ones who reach their thirties having clocked up a total of 8 months actually working for a living. There’s a point where giving Boggo another grant to study is like a perpetual motion machine – does something but produces nothing.
