ITF Week Ahead: Hopman Cup

Posted by gauloises1 on January 2, 2010

I think I had more than enough mixed doubles last night. HOTCHA! (to quote IRTTY). Still, it all kicks off in Perth tonight.

The draw:

GROUP A

(1) Australia – Samantha Stosur & Lleyton Hewitt
(4) Spain – Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez & Tommy Robredo
(6) Romania – Sorana Cirstea & Victor Hanescu
(7) USA – Melanie Oudin & John Isner

GROUP B

(2) Russia – Elena Dementieva & Igor Andreev
(3) Great Britain – Laura Robson & Andy Murray
(5) Germany – Sabine Lisicki & Philipp Kohlschreiber
(8) Kazakhstan – Yaroslava Shvedova & Andrey Golubev

You can find a full schedule here.

Home nation hopes Hewitt and Stosur will be facing Victor Hanescu and Sorana Cirstea in the first tie tonight, which is actually tomorrow at 10 a.m. local, but is probably in about 1 hour or so. (I suck at time zones.) I have no idea who’s going to win, so I now hand things over to the patron saint of mixed doubles.

Captain Jack approves this event.
