The Year of the Bull

Posted by gauloises1 on January 2, 2010

Seriously, I’ve got a feeling. We’re going to be seeing an awful lot of this sort of thing.

Rafa beat sporadic nemesis Robin Soderling 76(3) 75 to take the title and the money in Abu Dhabi. Federer came third after beating David Ferrer 61 75 in the play-off.

My vague feelings and rampant speculation aside, it has to be pretty nice to start the new year with a win – especially against such a troublesome opponent. Good stuff.

I hope your feeling for 2010 is right and mine’s not…

I am very happy Rafa won — after London I would have been thrilled with winning a set on a hard court. And, I’m very happy for Soderling that he beat Federer this week. I just hope he can repeat that performance when it will be an “official” victory for him.

    Well done Rafffffa.

Although not sure if the year will continue to go his way after he gets tetanus from biting that rusty trophy.

When I read the title I thought “No, it’s not! It’s the year of the tiger!” Then I put the drink down and realized my mistake. Congrats on the win Rafa! But seriously, you can put an eye out with that trophy, keep it away from your face.

i like rafa and everything but i really hope this is not the only trophy shot i see, im sort of over seeing either him or federer hold up a trophy actually, i want to see someone else for a change…del potro of course can win as many trophys as he wants, thats not a problem the more the merry in his case =D

Well- Rafa hasn’t won a tournament since May 2009 so he has done his part in making you happy to not see him with a trophy. ;p

Ooh Rafa won! And yay for Sod for beating Fed…that made me happy. Now try to get a win against him in a Slam, please Robin.

But yay Rafa! Seriously, the only thing I really, so badly want him to win this year is the USO. If he can make that happen, I’ll be extremely happy. Any other wins before the USO won’t be so bad either, hehe.

I would love to see Rafa take the French again- after how he felt so sad last year- combined with the press guy being so rude to him on court after he lost (we want to interview….NOT!) I would love to see Rafa happy in Paris. Then he can take the USO.

Frankly- I would just be thrilled if he won any grand slam….hasn’t won a non exo since May 2009 so I hgope that some of g’s inklings are correct.

      Good on Robin too.

I hope we see at least a little more of this sort of thing. 🙂 Its been quite a drought for this fan. Even though it was just an exo I have to say I am relieved he turned things around against Soderling.

I wonder how long it took him to find a safe place to bite that trophy.
