Where the Wild Things Are

Posted by gauloises1 on January 3, 2010

It’s the time of year where we always get photos of players posing with animals in the run up to the Australian Open. Don’t ask me why, it just happens. So far we’ve had Jelena Dokic with koalas and kangaroos …

… Ana Ivanovic with a – what is that, a sea lion?

… Flavia with a horse …

… and Pavs with Baggy. (Don’t tell me he’s not a wild thing.)

But it’s not all fun and games and cute animals. There is also Serious Cultural Learning going on, as evidenced by Virginie Razzano and Francesca Schiavone with members of a Maori group in Auckland …

… and Maria Sharapova hanging out with some monks in Thailand.

I don’t even know any more.

And that completes your lightning round-up of recent WTA promotional activities.

Maoris are so clear about their feelings regarding female looks.

Odd observation — JD’s face lights up so much with those (pearl?) earrings she’s seen wearing here. She could wear one on court. And find clothes that fit her.

laughing too hard at the Masha pic – don’t know if it’s just the camera angle or what but she’s on her knees and as tall as a regular-sized monk.

I can assured you that Marsha on her knees could be taller than typical Thai people
      (She’s 1.88m. minus her leg being folded say 0.38 m. = 1.50 = my height!)
