Hobart, Sydney: Wins for Dementieva, Kuznetsova

Posted by gauloises1 on January 10, 2010

No rest for the tennis-obsessed as the tour marches on. In good but not unexpected news, Elena Dementieva and Svetlana Kuznetsova both won their first main tour matches this season; Dementieva rolled over recent Auckland semifinalist Francesca Schiavone 62 75, while Kuznetsova struggled at times against Alisa Kleybanova but edged it 75 in the third.

In less photographed but still interesting news, Daniela Hantuchova knocked out Sydney sixth seed Virginie Razzano, while in Hobart, NB fave Sorana Cirstea lost to Shuai Peng.
