Hit For Haiti

Posted by gauloises1 on January 17, 2010

In somewhat heartwarming news, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Novak Djokovic and Kim Clijsters have all agreed to play a special, hastily put-together mixed doubles event at Melbourne Park to raise money for disaster relief in Haiti.

Using their powers for good.

It starts in about three hours and will be streamed via the Australian Open website and available via ESPN360, apparently. More info here.

I’m glad they did this. For those of us who can’t attend the exo, heres a great website that breaks down how we can help.

I’m hoping the money I donated will offset the bad karma I’ll gain from this Australian Open which will be rife with swearing and sleep-deprived malice.

I don’t say nice things about Fed often, but I hear that he put this thing together, and that’s really, really awesome. Good for him. Good for all of them. This Haiti situation is so sad I can’t even comprehend it.

That was a seriously fun, hilarious, heart-warming event.

Still got warm fuzzies from watching it — hope they put it on DVD (with the proceeds going to Haiti, of course), I’d buy it in an instant!
