AO Day Fourteen: Finalspam

Posted by gauloises1 on January 31, 2010

Get used to this view, rest of the field.

You know, more used to it.

I wish I could find an embeddable version of Murray’s runner-up speech for you. On the other hand, I still want to cry when I think about it, so maybe best not.

“I can cry like Roger, but I can’t play like him.”

Norman Brookes no challengers.

Yeah, I struggled.

A friend of mine, because she’s a freak, has a battered teddy she uses as a nighttime boob support called ‘Daddy Bear’.

Robert Federer can be my Sugar Daddy Bear any time he likes.

I’m just saying.

See how can you hate on a guy that makes his Daddy so proud and happy?? Shweeeeeeeet Daddy Fudd.

Roger’s dad when he’s wearing the red cap looks like Super Mario….

It’s obvious that Roger is going to turn into his dad with age; they look so much alike. Mirka also looks very similar to Roger’s mom. Weird.

Well, I may not like Roger but his pa is adorable.

    BIG hugs again, G.

I found a link to Andy’s speech earlier in the day but it seems to have disappeared. It was an ESPN one too. Weird. If I find it again, I shall send it to you.

Oh, thank you, harini. But don’t worry too much about it – I tried the ESPN link and it was blocked from my country.

And thank you for the hugs, too.

Ah bummer that the ESPN link won’t work in the UK. I’m sure an embeddable version will turn up in the next few days.

Papa Fed (as in federers dad) looks like such a cool guy! look how happy he is!
were serena’s mum just always looks so bored (and admittted that she is most of the time in that funny interview) papa fed looks so excited like instead of that being his sons 16th win tis like he’s 1st.

tough break about andy though, i admit i did like the whole “i can cry like him just not play like him” thing, i like that no one will let Mr. Monogram forget he totally lost his shit and cried like a little girl last year. i mean i did to but i am a girl and i was in my home alone not in front of a million people…

I for one will never forget last year’s trophy ceremony. It went from sad and emotional to just awkward…but that’s just me.

Fed’s pa is just adorable. I begrudgingly have to admit that it is a very cute pic of him and his son, celebrating another big win.

That crying was nothing “like him”. These were few stingy tears and a wobbly voice, then he controlled his emotions and even joked. The last year’s waterworks were just ridiculous, feeding upon itself. It went on and on, this wallowing in self-pity. Where it not for Nadal, it might have degenerated into full hysteria.

So no, these two cannot be compared. Murray was overwhelmed for a moment like an adult, Federer indulged like a toddler having a tantrum. Cringeworthy.

His wins seem to serve just to keep that toddler hidden.
