It’s All Happening (In Croatian Tennis)

Posted by gauloises1 on February 1, 2010

Let’s not forget about the original Baby Goran. I think it’s time we had a Mario Ancic career update. And here it is: he’s still got one. Sort of.

Making his gazillionth attempt to come back to the tour, Mario played the Heilbronn Challenger last week, losing in the first round to Mikhail Kukushkin. He did, however, make it all the way to the finals of the doubles with Lovro Zovko before losing to the Ratiwana twins (managing, in true Mario style, to acquire some prominent taping along the way).

Reportedly Mario will play a Futures tournament in Nussloch next week and a Challenger in Belgrade in February. So, onwards and …. onwards.

Futures tournament this week in Germany.

    Challenger in Belgrade next month.

    🙂

Interestingly, Mario is a full 250 ranking places above the next ranked player so if he doesn’t at least win a match here…I’m losing all hope.

Wait … Heilbronn was a Futures, or this Nussloch business is? And the Belgrade one is a Challenger?

I’m so confused. GET BACK ON THE PROPER TOUR MARIO!

Heilbronn was a challenger, Nussloch is a futures and Belgrade is a challenger.

I KNOW – GOD. He needs to hug Marin in DC and make Goran all ~jealous~ and frustrated.

          THIS MUST HAPPEN.

And we are *so* going if there’s even the slightest chance that it will.

Definitely. Just thinking of that passionate, crazy Croatian crowd and Mario and Marin tearing it up in the doubles, screaming joy in each others faces, fist pumping all over the place, hot breathy whispers behind tennis balls, the heavy odour of testosterone and sweat filling the room…

Ok, getting ahead of myself. But whatever, it’s giving me chills down my spine already.

and I meant 150 ranking places bah, sorry.
