Santiago: Pico Gets Nose Jobbed

Posted by gauloises1 on February 8, 2010

Congratulations as big as his old nose to Thomaz Bellucci, who beat Juan Monaco 62 06 64 for his second career title in Santiago last night. He’s the first Brazilian to take the title since Guga in 2000. And you know what that means …

He’s an oil painting. My god.

Sorry, Pico, but your day will come. You’re too pretty to be a bridesmaid forever.

Coin-operated boy.

Yay.

word. looking like an altar piece or something at times.
and that first pic you used here… is amazing. have to confess that it took me an embarrasing long amount of time to realise that no, his hand is not glowing, illuminated by the tennis gods to indicate their goodwill, but that it´s just the yellow piece of cloth from the spectator in the background. 😆

I’m very happy for our Sid 🙂 the past couple of weeks feel like the “good old days” of Guga: Tiago Fernandes with the AO boys title and Bellucci with his 2nd career title. In a way, I kind of hope Brazilian press keeps ignoring tennis… because otherwise, chances are these two will have a taste of “British press” pretty soon. Ours can be just as bad with irrational hopes and the pressure that comes along with it – just ask Rubinho Barichello how it felt like early in his career.

I really don’t understand the ‘Sid’ thing … I know it’s a nickname for him, but I don’t get where it comes from. Can you shed any light on that, CaroL? Is it something really obvious that I’m missing?

Thank you for cropping all of those grody, fake-enthusiastic, paid-for wanna-be-Movistar chicas out of the pics and leaving nothing but Nose Jobby goodness, gaul!

I do feel bad for Pico- all of this losses in finals (7! as opposed to 3 finals wins) have to start to get to him,

Belluci really does look like an oil painting- wow!

I’m also fairly certain that he’s on a 6 finals losing streak, which is not exactly the type of streak you want to continue. *sighs*

I’m happy for Bellucci, as I really like him, but I’m depressed for Pico. I was rooting for him, and I’m starting to wonder when he’ll ever win another title.

poor pico, always the bridesmaid never the bride and its a shame to because he’d make a pretty bride and by bride i mean title Winner. i really have no strong feelings either way about Bellucci, but i suppose a win is good,

I never noticed before, but Bellucci has a great smile.

Love the nickname Nose Job, it’s too funny.

I keep telling myself that one day it’ll just click with Pico. He’s still at the whip-thin boyish stage, where scrambling around athletically seems the only way. But he may be one of those players that hit mental maturity mid-twenties. Just hope he’s still as cute then too. 🙂

I don’t think it’s possible for Pico to lose his cuteness, he’s just too adorable.

I like him a lot, too, but I’m starting to feel a little concerned. I’m obviously happier with Bellucci’s victory than I’d be with Monaco’s, but the 6 finals losing streak is a bit scary. Pico is clearly talented and was one of the promising young guys from Argentina – before people even considered Delpo, by the way. But sometimes it feels like he is one of the “Gasquets” who suffer from serious lack of confidence. I hope he one day notices how good he can be and starts believing in himself – he’s a player I really enjoy watching.

Congrats to Sid, but feel for Pico. 6 finals streak? Oh dear…Hope he wins something this year. Looks wise he is just yum, cleft chin, impishness, the bush hair = hot.
