Killer Queen

Posted by gauloises1 on May 17, 2010

Last week it was Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez; this week it was the turn of indisputably ’80s Aravane Rezai to capture a big title as an outsider.

I didn’t see the match but I was lucky enough to see some of Rezai’s other performances during the week, where she stuck furiously to her baseline game, didn’t allow herself to be unbalanced, and consistently came up with huge shots when pressed. It really was impressive stuff and a huge win that will put her as the no. 1 Frenchwoman heading into Roland Garros. But she shouldn’t let that ruin the moment for her.

And she’s only five foot five!

Eat your heart out, Justine.

reading just the headline i thought this would be about Elizabeth II. and her announcement to see muzzle´s fail cast a watchful eye on the tennis from the royal box this year.

but i liked it anyway. 😆 ed at the final sentence.

Hi! Long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to say that Bartoli is still the number 1 Frenchwoman going into RG–I believe Rezai is only a few spots off.
