I Predict Racquet Abusement
Posted by gauloises1 on May 21, 2010
The draws for the 2010 French Open are …. out. I know the ATP side seems a little predictable, but the stakes are high: if Rafa wins and Roger loses before the semifinals for the first time since dinosaurs ruled the earth, Rafa will retake the no. 1 ranking; if Roger can make the semifinals, he will overtake Pete Sampras as the longest-serving world no. 1 on 14th June with 287 weeks. Further down the rankings, Verdasco looks very dangerous and Soderling has much to defend. Interesting times. Almost really.
On the WTA side … I don’t even know, but I anticipate glorious chaos. And I think this is Serena’s year whatever the draw decides.
Men’s draw here.
Quarters: Federer-Soderling (Monfils, Cilic, Gulbis, Wawrinka); Murray-Tsonga (Baggy, Isner, Berdych, Youzhny, Robredo); Roddick-Djokovic (Boss, Ferru, Querrey, Pico); Verdasco-Nadal (PEHK, Gonzo, Almagro)
Women’s draw here.
Quarters: Serena-Stosur (Henin, Sharapova and Pavs); JJ-Radwanska (Safina, Zvonareva); Kuznetsova-Wozniacki (Pennetta, Schiavone); Dementieva-Venus (Azarenka, Petrova, MJMS)
Thoughts? Come on, people, I can’t do all the work around here. In the meantime, I leave you in umpire Karen’s capable hands.
