RG Day 11: A Change Is Gonna Come

Posted by gauloises1 on June 3, 2010

So we have Schiavone and Dementieva on the one side, and on the other …

No matter what happens, we are going to have a maiden Slam champion at the end of Roland Garros 2010. And I am excited. Really quite excited. Anybody else? Or am I the only empty-headed seeker after perpetual change?

Sam was stunning today, even and especially after choking the match away when she served for it at 5-4 in the second set. And JJ … well, she won. This is what matters.

Sorry, Serena and Yaroslava fans, but they just can’t compete with my internal hallelujah chorus on this one.

    Slamming Sammy’s match was amazing.
She chokes a little when she’s ahead or about to win though…and somewhere before the title is won someone is going to take advantage of that.
it’s a pity JJ and her are on the same side. I like them both…the other side, not so much.

It’s hard for me to pick whom I’m most rooting for in the WTA — I guess I’d have to say I want a Sam/Elena final, but really would be happy with any combination. I’m really excited for the semis tomorrow — I’m curious how Elena is going to hold up, knowing that this may be her best chance to finally win that elusive slam, curious how Fran will handle the moment, and curious how Sam will handle playing after her two massive wins — and playing when there will most likely be a fair deal of pressure on her to actually win a match. Can’t wait!

You’re not the only one. *flying the FOOP flag from the ramparts*

This is like the FOOP slam!

Apart from Rafa, of course. But still.

Gosh it really is the FOOP Slam! I didn’t even think of that.

        It’s freaking awesome. About time.

(apart from Rafa, as you said lol)

I’m a convert to Sam Stosur, she was hugely impressive in that match against Serena. Hope to see JJ and Elena in the final but I hope JJ takes the whole thing. So dramatic this tournament.
