Wimbledon Day 7: There’s No Ferru Like a Five-set Ferru

Posted by gauloises1 on June 29, 2010

Because even when he comes out on the wrong end, as he did today to Robin Soderling, the images make it all worth it.

Robin, meanwhile, having dropped his first sets in the championships so far and looking for the first time less than invulnerable, goes on to face Rafa Nadal. Best of luck with that, Robin.

You’re going to be needing that.

LOL, he’s been cranky this whole tournament. Personally, I attribute 30% of it to playing on grass, 5% to having to wear white all the time, and 65% to JCF losing early and going home. I swear, he plays better when Juan Carlos is around. It’s a little creepy.

You’re so right about Five-ru. Darn it, I haven’t caught a single point of his matches so far and he’s out. I’ll have to console myself with some old pics from 2006 when I watched him play Hewitt (and lose).

Speaking of pics, did you take any this year? I’m still miserable that this was the first time in 8 years I haven’t got a ticket.

Oh Ferru. That was such a frustrating match to watch. It was fun to watch just because both were getting SO pissy. At the same time it was maddening because Ferru so could have gotten it.

Hopefully he’ll have a better run at the USO. As for Robin, his matchup with Rafa should be interesting/good stuff. Hopefully.

I SO wish I could have watched this match. I think I saw all of 3 points from it (if that). I expected Soderling to just roll over Ferru so I was shocked by the scoreline. Loving the photos, though. Cranky Ferru always makes me smile.

It was a fascinating match, but both were really grumpy: don’t suppose the heat helped! Huge helpings of D cussing and mumbling to himself, a couple of racquet tosses, heated discussion about line calls and a superb “no! no! no!” at Sharapova-pitch!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who adores a pissed-off David Ferrer….. grrrr, come to Daisy, honey!!!

To be fair – for one who’s least fave surface is grass, he’s done pretty well this Wimby – but then I’m totally, unconditionally biased. he, he! 😉
