Stockholm, Moscow: Hengor Go Down. Not In a Good Way.

Posted by gauloises1 on October 21, 2009

Bad news for cute boys and the girls who love them; Henri Kontinen and Grigor Dmitrov both lost their first round matches at the Stockholm Open today. Grigor got just two games off Jarkko Nieminen, and HenKon lost two tight sets to fellow qualifier Michael Berrer. Ah well, at least they can console each other. Hopefully in some way that involves staying away from ladies of the evening/policewomen disguised as such.

Also, HenKon, WTF is with that bandana? To paraphrase IRTTY, please stop raiding Clement’s armoire. And in a seamless segue, Clement himself won his first ATP match in like five months, beating fifth seed Andreas Beck 62 64. Oh – and Nose Job won. Always a cause for minor celebration.

The Kremlin Cup also chugs along, losing a mere three seeds, two at the hands of American journeymen. Wayne Odesnik saved one match point on the way to defeating second seed Victor Hanescu, who seems to be a bit burned out judging by his recent results, and Robby Ginepri defeated the Artist Formerly Known as a Top Player, Igor Andreev. Whatever.

Like Top Gun, But With Tennis Players

Posted by gauloises1 on July 16, 2009

And less homoeroticism, sadly.

Grigor Dmitrov took part in a beach volleyball match in Sweden for … some reason, who the hell cares? Just look at how cute he is.

I don’t want to be unseemly in any way, but is he legal yet? A friend of mine wants to know.

Happy Birthday, Grigor Dimitrov!

Posted by gauloises1 on May 16, 2009

OK, according to my calculations, I have exactly six minutes later to wish Grigor Dimitrov a happy birthday.

Grow up fast, Grigor.

Queens Wildcards: Grigor, Kei

Posted by gauloises1 on May 13, 2009

So how stoked am I about this?

Queens wildcards have been handed out to Grigor Dimitrov (of Hengor fame) and Kei Nishikori, as well as token old I-thought-you-were-retired / had-totally-forgotten-your-existence Sebastian Grosjean, he of the big jean.

Just don’t lose before I can see you, kthanx.

There are two wildcards left, which I fully expect to go to local no-hopers.

Hengor Go Down in Greece

Posted by gauloises1 on April 28, 2009

So both Henri Kontinen and Grigor Dimitrov lost their first round matches in the Aegean Tennis Cup today.

Grigor lost 6-2, 6-3 to Becker. No, not that one, the other one.

Henkon lost 6-4, 6-4 to Stadler.

Bad luck boys. Go to the beach or something. Or do whatever two teenage boys do in Greece.

Henri Kontinen and Grigor Dimitrov: Greek Love

Posted by gauloises1 on April 28, 2009

Hengor are competing in the Aegean Tennis Cup challenger tournament this week and have their respective first matches tomorrow.

Henri will be taking on Simon Stadler in the first match of the day, while Grigor has another tough draw against Benjamin “the other B.” Becker last thing.

Why does everyone want to keep them apart?! They’re so star-crossed.

I just hope one of them stays in the tournament long enough to beat the crap out of Alex Bogdanovic. Of course, that would require Boggo to actually win a few matches himself, so that looks unlikely.

Henri Kontinen and Grigor Dimitrov: my new crush

Posted by gauloises1 on April 26, 2009

How cute is this? Hengor on a buggy:

They’re like the tennis History Boys!

Could you die? I mean, seriously. Speaking for everyone who is me, I may be dead.

Henri Kontinen is of course last year’s Wimbledon boys’ finalist – he lost to, yes, Grigor Dimitrov. And I just became a fan of both.
