USO Day Three: Age Before Beauty

Posted by gauloises1 on September 3, 2009

Interesting night on Arthur Ashe, where for the first time ever the men’s match was played first. And it wasn’t too bad, Simon Greul played a really good match and kept things relatively tight in the second and third sets. Naturally it was a foregone conclusion, but still quite fun.

And Serena celebrated being second up with a ferocious demolition of Melinda Czink, 61 61 to set up a rematch with Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez.

Martinez Sanchez, like Czink, is a lefty and I couldn’t quite shake the feeling that Serena was basically warming up for that match. Anyway, if I was playing her next, I’d be very, very afraid.
