A Combined Age of 42.

Posted by gauloises1 on July 18, 2010

Radek Stepanek and Nicole Vaidisova tied the knot in Prague this weekend.

According to my Bistromathics, they’re guaranteed to be together forever. So gratulace are in order.

WTA Tuesday Results: Prague, Palermo

Posted by gauloises1 on July 14, 2009

More woe for Nicole Vaidisova today (god, those words are beginning to redefine redundancy). She lost 75 62 to Alla Kudryavsteva. No hometown comeback for her. And her dress looked awful.

Apart from that, the big news of the day was probably the all-Bondarenko battle between Alona and Kateryna, which the not-blonde one won. This could make the sister act blog a little awkward. And sixth seed, Magdalena “Only Good on Grass and That Only For About Five Minutes” Rybarikova lost to qualifier Timea Bacsinzsky. Token Tim Katie O’Brien went down to Monica Niculescu, and Wimbledon girls’ finalist and qualifier Kristina Mladenovic was knocked out 64 61 by a Kazakhstani wildcard.

In Palermo, Pennetta and Errani kept the flag flying for the home nation, but Alize Cornet was dumped out by Bastad champion Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez. That’s Alize’s third loss in four matches since the French Open, if anybody’s counting. And Gisela Dulko was presumably served off the court by Anna-Lena Groenefeld, 4 and 1.
